Business Summary
My name is Daniel Fox and I run Clean Sweep Chimney Services. In 2012, I decided to take on a new challenge and become a chimney sweep. I trained at the COSTIC heating engineer’s training school in France, qualifying in the autumn of that year. The training gave me an in-depth understanding of flues, chimneys and stoves in France and the ability to recognise and deal with potentially dangerous situations. Initially I concentrated on sweeping chimneys but soon discovered a demand for quality stove installations and professionally lined chimneys. I now offer these services to customers and my work is covered by Assurance Décennale.
Since 2012 I have been drawn into the world of chimneys, which has completely engrossed me and from which I can never imagine escaping!

“I cannot recommend Dan and his team highly enough. They installed two wood burners and a pellet burner in our house over the course of 2 days. Not an easy task in an old, quirky building. They were professional and efficient and found solutions when they came across problems. They really went the extra mile and are a lovely bunch of people. You will not regret using them! Top marks for Dan, the other Dan and Patrick!”

Chimney and Stove Repairs
“We called Dan to clean the interior brickwork of our chimney as both had bees and hornets nesting in them. Once the brickwork was clean, Dan re-installed the liner and the capping on the top of the chimney (this had previously been done badly). He moved the wood burning stove,rebuilt the fireplace and fitted the correct (previously defective) vents. We are very pleased with the quality of Dan’s work, in particular the repositioned stove and the re-built fireplace looks so much better. We would recommend him without hesitation. ”

Chimneys Swept and Godin Cleaned
“Two chimneys swept and a wood fuelled cooker cleaned out. The cooker with chimney clearly had not been done for years and it was not functioning properly. I was drwan to Dans advert by the fact that he is French trained and would therefore be more familiar with French brands. Dan arrived on time, was very friendly and professional. He explained what he was doing at every stage of the job, offered helpful tips on maintenance and legalities. He certainly knows his stuff! Having done a fantastic job he left the work areas clean and tidy. I now have a functioning Godin range. ”

Installation of new woodburning stove
“Daniel and his friend, Chris, installed our replacement woodburning stove in January 2019. This is my third attempt to write this review after previous technical difficulties. They were efficient and professional throughout and we are more than pleased with the result. They also left the house clean and tidy after they had finished the install. Not only were they very professional, they were also very pleasant and friendly and kept us amused throughout the day with their many anecdotes. I would not hesitate to recommend them.”

Hybrid Pellet/Woodburner Fitted
“Dan Fox fitted his first hybrid pellet/wood burner in our dining room to get more heat into our freezing cold house. The job took 2 full days as the outside wall was extremely hard to get through, but Dan just carried on without ever losing his sense of humour. We are really pleased with the fire and the workmanship. Customer service and communication were excellent throughout. We would definitely recommend him. ”

Chimney Sweeping and Chimney Lining Installation
“Dan Fox recently swept a lined chimney for us. Until now I have always swept our chimneys myself, never again. What would take me a whole morning to do, and a whole afternoon to clean up afterwards, Dan managed to do very quickly and efficiently with no mess at all. Dan also lined another chimney for us. This installation was also carried out very efficiently. We now have complete peace of mind knowing that the installation conforms to current regulations and also looks great. Dan has depth of knowledge and enthusiasm for what he does that I think would be difficult to find elsewhere. ”

On the examination of this stove/chimney, he found that it did not comply and was in a dangerous condition. More importantly he did explain what was required to make it safe. He went to the trouble to show us and explain the problem, and how to rectify it. Highly recommend. ”

“We contacted Dan on taking possession of our house at Jouvignac (near Oradour-Fanais) due to experiencing significant problems with the venting from our range. Dan dropped everything to come out to help us and worked very hard to firstly clear the problem and also to recommend a number of improvements including critical safety requirements. As a consequence, we booked Dan in to complete on his recommendations to us last June. These were completed on time and to Dan's earlier estimates. Quality job, a very genuine guy who cares passionately about the quality of his work and his profession. ”

“After the installation of a new, high efficiency log burning stove, I was disappointed with its performance and called in Dan Fox. Dan inspected the stove and the flue and quickly realised the flue was not tall enough to create the requisite draft. Dan removed the flue lining (which was dangerously reduced in diameter), installed a new liner and reconnected the stove, which now works as hoped. It was Dan's knowledge of flue construction in France and flue performance which prevented a potentially dangerous situation.”
